2024 NFL Draft Props and Best Bets: Where's The Value On The NFL Draft Odds Board? (2024)

We have arrived at one of my favorite events of the year to bet – the NFL Draft. One of the reasons why I absolutely love this event is there is always a ton of value on the board. Caleb Williams is all but locked in to go No. 1 overall to the Chicago Bears, but there are plenty of bets and opportunities still to be had. In other words, the NFL Draft odds board is ripe for the picking.

Let’s take a look at our in-depth analysis in hopes that we walk away from the event with a heavier wallet.

Best NFL Draft prop bets

Let’s take a look at my best NFL Draft props and bets for Thursday. JJ McCarthy might just be providing bettors with the absolute best value on the board across all of the best sportsbooks.

Michael Penix Jr. to be drafted in the first round (-200 DraftKings)

This is a bet I would place as soon as possible. I locked this in on Saturday, April 20th, at -110 odds, and it has shot up to -300 on FanDuel.

DraftKings still has the odds around -200, and to me, this is still one of the best bets you can make in this draft. Michael Penix ran a 4.5 40-yard dash on his pro day, which really proved to the doubters he is fully recovered from multiple ACL injuries.

I believe there will be a minimum of five QBs taken in Round 1, and he will be the fifth selected. Penix also recently wrote a letter to all GMs of NFL teams, stating his resilience and his passion about the game of football. I am hearing that a lot of teams respected and appreciated his message. Lock this in as soon as you can.

Xavier Worthy to be a first-rounder (-145 at FanDuel)

We all know the story about Xavier Worthy – the kid who ran the fastest 40-yard dash time in NFL Combine history. When you have that kind of speed, some team will take a chance on you in the first round. The league doesn’t want to see the Chiefs take this kid at the end of the first round and give Patrick Mahomes essentially a Tyreek Hill-type player to add back into the offense. They are the team that I can see taking a chance on Worthy sooner rather than later.

JJ McCarthy to be selected fourth overall (+400 at FanDuel)

This is going to be my long shot play of the first round.

I do anticipate the Arizona Cardinals trading out of the fourth pick, and a team like the Minnesota Vikings jumping up to grab JJ in the top five.

I know Marvin Harrison Jr. is still on the board, and if the Cardinals were to stay at the fourth selection, he would absolutely be the pick. However, the Vikings have the 11th and 23rd selection to offer the Cardinals. The Cards can also take elite receiver Rome Odunze in the 11th slot, so I do think they will be tempted to take this deal to get multiple selections in the opening round. If the Cardinals do elect to trade the pick, it is more than likely that it is with a team looking to come up for JJ. It is worth a small play.

Top three picks in exact order: Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye (-185 at FanDuel)

The only question to me about this bet is which team will be taking Drake Maye at three.

To me, the first three picks have already been decided and it will be in this exact order. As a Giants fan, I selfishly hope they are the team that moves up to get him. However, if it isn’t the Giants, and the Vikings won’t trade up, the Patriots will select Maye with the third pick. The guy is essentially a young Josh Allen, and his talent is too strong to pass over.

The draft is one of the most entertaining events of the year, I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I will.
