Ingredients

  • 500 gms green grapes
  • 3-4 water for boiling

Instructions

  • Collect all the required ingredients.

  • Take green grapes and remove the larger stems from your grapes.

  • Rinse the grapes under running water to wash them.

  • Wash thoroughly for 3-4 times.

  • Take enough water in a deep pan for blanching.

  • Before drying your grapes, you’ll want to blanch them. You can skip this step if you want, but blanching your grapes first softens the skins and helps them dry evenly. And it only takes a minute.Do not boil the water is just heat it.

  • When the water starts heating, drop the grapes.

  • After 2-3 minutes, the grapes will starts floating above the water.

  • When the grapes will boil over and the crack has come in them too. Switch off the flame.

  • Do not over boil the grapes.

  • As soon as the grapefruit starts floating and all our grape exploded from the center, take them out from the water.

  • Take out the grapes from water using sieve or spoon.

  • Let them cool for 5-7 minutes.

  • Take a plate/tray or basket and spread cheesecloth/kitchen towel/cotton cloth.

  • Spread the grapes over the cloth.

  • Place the tray outside in a dry sunny place. Take the tray inside in the night if it is foggy. Every day keep it out in the morning and take it inside in the night. Keep rotating the fruit for even exposure to the sun. It takes around 1 to 2 days depending on the strength of the sun rays.

  • Once the grapes have dried to the point of becoming raisins, take the tray inside and place the raisins in an airtight container. Store the container in a cool place or refrigerate.

Notes

  • Over-ripe grapes will take longer to dry and may rot before drying. It’s preferable to have slightly under-ripe, yet sweet, grapes.
  • Watch for dampness or rot. If a few grapes go bad, remove them immediately from the tray and spread nearby fruit out to dry. Remember that drying grapes will shrivel up and get small, not turn to mush and rot.
  • Professionals often make raisins by hanging bunches of grapes from a string or wire and allowing them to dry. This is harder than using a flat tray but works better as the fruit has maximum air exposure.
