  • Onion chopped
  • Italian seasoning
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Spaghetti sauce

  • Eggs whites
  • Shredded Mozzarella cheese divided

  • Ziti noodles, uncooked pasta

How to make Slow Cooker Baked Ziti:

  1. In alarge skilletover medium heat, brown ground turkey with chopped onions.
  2. Once the meat is fully cooked, drain well.
  3. Mix in Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour in jars of pasta sauce and stir all together until well combined with the meat mixture.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix together ricotta cheese, egg whites, 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese.
  6. Spray your slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray or line with slow cooker liner.
  7. Pour 1 1/2 cups of sauce in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  8. On top of the layer of sauce, layer half the noodles, half the ricotta cheese mixture, and another 1 1/2 cups of sauce. Repeat the layers twice ending with sauce.
  9. Cook on high for 30 minutes, and then switch to low for 2-3 hours or until noodles are tender and Ziti is cooked through.
  10. 10 minutes before serving, top Ziti with remaining mozzarella cheese and continue cooking until melted.

  • 1 pound ground turkey

    probably cottage cheese. i've done million dollar spaghetti and it was delicious in the casserole dish!

    You can always substitute ricotta for cottage cheese. We do that often in Ziti and Lasagna recipes.
